Festival of the Sea - celebrating Argyll’s dazzling marine environment.

Oban is much defined by the sea, and this new festival aims to inspire visitors to admire, explore and protect the marine environment. 

Everybody is welcome to enjoy a multitude of talks, walks, activity days, exhibitions and performances and to sample a multitude of products from the sea. 

Come and share in the adventure of the Festival of the Sea, a 10 day marine science festival taking place around Oban. 

Do you want to know more about marine renewable energy, diving and sailing, climate change, sea lochs, wildlife or enjoy local seafood and cultural events?  Then the Festival of the Sea is for you!  We have film, drama, music, art and hands-on open days for family fun!  Visit the SAMS Scottish Marine Institute at Dunstaffnage and meet real scientists for a day of discovery and for trying your hands at marine research. 

Taking place at a variety of venues around Oban & Lorn, the festival encompasses events for all ages including nature walks, talks & debates and school activity days.
